JC 42 – 2009 Pension Accrual

TO: All Joint Council 42 Locals Dear Sirs and Brothers: Over the past several months, there has been speculation by the Locals’ Officers, Officials, and members regarding next year’s (2009) pension accrual. At their quarterly meetings this week, the Western Conference Pension Trustees approved a pension accrual of 1.2 percent for the next year. While down from 2008, the increase is remarkable in light of the current economic downturn. It is an indication that the Western Conference of Teamsters Plan continues to remain stable and healthy. In a separate action, Trustees again approved a 13th check for participants or their spouses who retired prior to 1985. Please feel free to share the above information with your staff and members.
